Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea-What’s it like?

Well for those of you that are wondering, what’s it like to live in Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea? I have some beautiful pictures and videos that I have found. Stay tuned for more for when we get there. You can also “like” their page on facebook. Just search for Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea. These photos are from various blogs of people that have already lived there.

A typical house in PNG.

Their main drinking water tank is on the left. Used to collect rain water to drink. Non-drinking water they get from a reservoir just outside Ukarumpa and that is not safe to drink. But rainwater is fine.

Here is a fascinating video about the islands around PNG. So beautiful.

Adoption

Adoption is such an amazing process. When our good friends Jonathon and Shelly started their journey towards adoption Evan and I committed to walk with them the entire way. I wanted to document this special event in their lives so they could forever remember what they went through and show their baby someday. Well this day came a little bit quicker then we all anticipated! We were overjoyed and I met them in Abilene to begin the process. It was an open adoption so they were able to meet both the birth mom and the birth dad. These two were such amazingly strong people. It really was an event that I will never forget, filled with emotion and love.

He settles the childless woman in her homeĀ as a happy mother of children. Praise the LORD. Psalm 113:9

Luke 10:2

The verse that God gave us to lean on for our ministry is:

Luke 10:2 “He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go!”

A cool thing about this verse, was that my Dad had been praying this for a long time for his own ministry with International Students. He set his alarm at 10:02 every morning to ring so that he will remember to pray this verse. I invite you to do the same. Set your alarms for 10:02 every morning or evening and remember to pray for us. Pray that the harvest will be plentiful and the workers will multiply. Pray that God will give us the courage that we need. Most of all pray that God’s will is done. We love you guys!
